Roads Signs Along Route 66

Route 66 Highway, also known as the Mother Road or Main Street USA, defines the American road trip and the signs along the route are classic Americana symbols.

Opening in 1926, the new highway route ran from Chicago to Los Angeles making travel easier between urban and rural areas. Along the route many mom-and-pop restaurants, motels and gas stations opened adding iconic signage to appeal to Route 66 travelers. Here are a few of the signs I discovered along the highway.
